Child Welfare & Rehabilitation

Nurturing Children. Supporting Families. Creating Opportunities.

At Dr- Fahims Foundation, we believe that every child deserves care, dignity, protection, education, and the opportunity to reach their potential.

Our Child Welfare & Rehabilitation Initiative focuses on supporting children and families who may need additional educational, developmental, therapeutic, social, or community-based support. We aim to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where children can learn, develop skills, participate in activities, and experience greater independence.

Our work includes initiatives for children with Cerebral Palsy (CP), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), physical disabilities, developmental needs, and other challenges, according to the needs of each child and the services available through our programs and professional partners.

Our Vision

We envision an inclusive society where every child is treated with dignity, compassion, equality, and respect, and where children with disabilities have opportunities to learn, develop, participate, and live as independently as possible.

We also believe that supporting a child means supporting the family and caregivers who play an essential role in the child's development and well-being.

Our Rehabilitation Program

Our rehabilitation-focused initiatives aim to provide appropriate support based on each child's individual needs.

Depending on the program and availability of qualified professionals, support may include:

Developmental Support

We encourage activities that support children's communication, learning, social interaction, motor development, confidence, and daily living abilities.

Physiotherapy & Physical Rehabilitation

For children with conditions such as Cerebral Palsy and physical disabilities, appropriate rehabilitation may help support mobility, physical functioning, posture, strength, coordination, and participation in daily activities.

Where applicable, services should be delivered or supervised by appropriately qualified professionals.

Speech & Communication Support

Children with communication or speech-related difficulties may benefit from appropriate assessment and intervention.

Our initiatives may facilitate access to or support activities involving qualified speech and language professionals, depending on program availability.

Occupational & Daily Living Skills

Children may need support in developing everyday skills and participating in activities appropriate to their abilities.

Activities may focus on:

  • Fine motor skills
  • Hand-eye coordination
  • Self-care abilities
  • Daily living activities
  • Functional skills
  • Sensory and play-based activities

Learning Through Play & Creative Activities

Play, creativity, and structured activities can support children's learning and social participation.

Activities may include:

  • Art and craft
  • Drawing and colouring
  • Music and movement
  • Games
  • Sensory activities
  • Educational activities
  • Group interaction

Support for Children with Cerebral Palsy (CP)

Cerebral Palsy can affect movement, posture, coordination, and other areas of functioning in different ways.

Our child welfare and rehabilitation initiatives aim to support children with CP through appropriate developmental, physical, educational, and community-based activities.

Depending on individual needs, children may receive access to or referrals for appropriate professional support such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and communication support, assistive resources, and educational guidance.

Every child is different, so rehabilitation should be individualized according to professional assessment and the child's specific needs.

Support for Children with Autism

Children on the Autism Spectrum may have different communication, sensory, learning, behavioral, and social needs.

Our initiatives aim to promote an inclusive and supportive environment where children can develop skills at their own pace.

Activities may include:

  • Communication and interaction activities
  • Structured learning
  • Play-based activities
  • Social participation
  • Daily living skills
  • Sensory-friendly activities
  • Parent and caregiver awareness

We recognize that autism is a spectrum and that every child has individual strengths, abilities, preferences, and support needs.

Support for Children with Physical Disabilities

Children with physical disabilities may face barriers related to mobility, communication, education, accessibility, or participation.

We aim to promote inclusion and support children through appropriate activities and resources that encourage:

  • Mobility and physical development
  • Functional independence
  • Educational participation
  • Accessible activities
  • Social interaction
  • Confidence and self-expression

Where specialist intervention is required, we encourage families to seek assessment and care from appropriately qualified healthcare and rehabilitation professionals.

Early Support & Development

Early identification of developmental concerns and timely professional support can be important for a child's development.

We encourage parents and caregivers to seek appropriate professional evaluation when they have concerns about a child's development, communication, movement, learning, behavior, or daily functioning.

Our awareness activities may help families understand the importance of seeking appropriate guidance and accessing available support services.

Family & Caregiver Support

A child's development is closely connected with the people who care for them.

We aim to support parents and caregivers through:

  • Awareness sessions
  • Guidance on available support resources
  • Caregiver interaction
  • Community support
  • Information-sharing activities
  • Encouragement and emotional support

Our goal is to help families feel informed, supported, and connected with appropriate resources.

Education & Inclusion

Every child deserves the opportunity to learn and participate.

We promote inclusive approaches that encourage children with disabilities and developmental needs to participate in educational, recreational, and community activities according to their abilities and individual needs.

We also encourage awareness about inclusive education, accessibility, dignity, and equal participation.

Assistive & Supportive Resources

Some children may benefit from assistive devices, educational materials, adaptive equipment, or other supportive resources.

Where resources and partnerships permit, our initiatives may work towards helping families identify or access appropriate support.

Any assistive device or rehabilitation equipment should be selected with appropriate professional guidance based on the child's individual needs.

Our Approach

We believe rehabilitation and child welfare should be child-centred, family-supported, inclusive, and respectful.

Our approach follows:

Assess → Understand → Support → Develop → Include → Review

Assess
Understand the child's individual needs through appropriate professional assessment where required.

Understand
Recognize the child's strengths, abilities, challenges, and family circumstances.

Support
Provide or facilitate appropriate educational, developmental, rehabilitation, and community support.

Develop
Encourage functional skills, communication, learning, confidence, and independence.

Include
Promote participation in family, education, social, and community life.

Review
Monitor progress and adapt support according to changing needs.

A Child-Centred Approach

We understand that no two children are exactly alike.

Our aim is not to compare children with one another, but to recognize individual abilities and support each child's development according to their needs and potential.

We promote:

Dignity • Inclusion • Compassion • Individualized Support • Family Participation • Equal Opportunity

Working With Professionals

Effective rehabilitation and developmental support can involve a multidisciplinary team.

Where appropriate, we may work with or facilitate access to qualified professionals such as:

  • Physiotherapists
  • Occupational therapists
  • Speech and language therapists
  • Special educators
  • Psychologists
  • Pediatric and other healthcare professionals
  • Rehabilitation specialists

The availability of particular professionals or services may vary by program and location.

Our Commitment to Child Safety

The safety, dignity, privacy, and well-being of children are fundamental to responsible child welfare work.

We aim to maintain appropriate safeguarding practices and expect everyone involved in our programs to treat children with respect and care.

We also encourage responsible handling of children's photographs, personal information, medical information, and family details.
